The Canadian Nuclear Law Organization (CNLO) received its letters patent from Industry Canada on January 25, 2008. It is incorporated as a not-for-profit organization under Part II of the Canada Corporations Act. Its objects are:

  • to exchange information and ideas relating to the legal issues arising in Canada from the peaceful utilization of nuclear energy by means of meetings, publications, conferences, teleconferences, emails, websites and seminars;
  • to exchange in the manner outlined above, the said information and ideas with bodies and institutions around the world with similar objects; and
  • to plan, organize and carry out in Canada, the 2009 Inter Jura Congress of the International Nuclear Law Association.
